**DISCLAIMER: Now, I am not stating that anything I am about to discuss was intentionally done for the publicity. I don’t have any proof that the reasons for this person’s actions were for publicity or otherwise but am merely stating my thoughts. This is simply the way I have interpreted things based upon certain messages the party in question exchanged with countless others etc. In addition, I would also like to make you aware that I want to believe this person’s story; however at this time there is not enough evidence to help me do so. If the person in question does find a way to prove that their story is credible, I promise to eat my words! But again, I ask you to remember, this is my opinion and my interpretation of the whole ordeal and I am entitled to that. **
Yep.
This is my post in regards to that one blogger and their story and how it went viral and not to mention how I managed to help the cause before it was brought to my attention along with way too many others that it was a bogus deal, (if it wasn’t it sure the hell looks like it was and there is no concrete evidence to prove otherwise).
I will not name names.
I will not point fingers.
I will not help send traffic and trolls in that person’s direction.
However, if you are someone who hangs out on Twitter on a regular basis then you know exactly what I am talking about.
If you don’t then I apologize but I leave you to do the digging yourself.
This person (should their claims be false as many believe they are) owes an explanation to many people, including myself and this persons very close friends in the Twitterverse and the Blogosphere.
I along with many, many others rallied together to support this person. I helped tweet this person’s story to numerous public affiliates to help get this persons voice heard and help get some closure on the issue at hand.
Then there was a rebuttal that went viral to the public from the party being accused.
I was in shock.
I was upset.
I was annoyed.
I was irritated.
I was hurt.
Someone, whom I had come to trust over the last few months via various social networking sites and the blogosphere, had pulled a fast one on all of us.
Not only that, but I had helped contribute to the whole thing. Knowing that I had helped support this person in what appeared to be their time of need only to apparently be wronged in the end was a truly hurtful thing. For those of you who follow me, you are well aware that myself and the remainder of my family have been sick for the past week. This whole issue was arose during this time and even though I felt like a big bag of shit, I took the time and dedication to help out someone I considered to be a friend only to learn less than 48 hours that there had been a HUGE turn of events that now made not only myself but many others look like an ass!
Yep. That hurt!
Over the past few days, I have read the many posts that people have written in regards to this issue. The difference between mine and theirs you ask? I am not linking to the aforementioned person’s site or anything that will help generate more free publicity for this person.
Basically what I am saying is this….if you are in the same boat as I am and are angered by this issue at all, then do all of us CREDIBLE and RELIABLE bloggers a favor or 3
- If you blog or have blogged about the incident, don’t share the person’s name, Twitter ID, blog name or URL of their blog – this just helps the person get more of a buzz and more free publicity out of us.
- Don’t say anything – either negative or positive in regard to this person on Twitter but if you do feel the need to, don’t @ the person in question – give it a new hashtag for example #THEHUGEINCIDENT
- Don’t continue to visit this person’s blog or comment on any posts prior to #THEHUGEINCIDENT because again, you are just helping to create more of a buzz.
So, there you have it.
My response to #THEHUGEINCIDENT in a very non-descriptive way!
P.S. I also wanted to share these wise words from the wonderfully talented and amazing Princess Jenn since I could not come up with a better way to put it, “When some internet brouhaha does come up, visiting that persons site repeatedly will often generate ad money from whatever ads they have on the blog. Think about whether you want to be putting money in their pocket.”
