Today was the first day of school for Zman & Drama Queen. I wish I could say that I spent the day relaxing and getting a few things done around the house like I originally anticipated. Again, I repeat, I wish that was the case. Unfortunately, my day did not happen as I originally planned it. Why you ask did things take a different direction?
Simply because Tatertot slept for approximately 3.5 hours from 9pm-6am meaning I was up the ENTIRE night. Yes, you heard me. I did not get any sleep. You can read more about my night HERE, HERE, HERE and HERE.
Needless to say, I waited for the Hardworking Hubby to get home this morning, took a shower and then drove the 4.3 blocks to the kids school with the whole family in tow to deliver them safe and sound on their first day. Here is a glimpse at them this morning:

After we left the kids (who were still willing to give me hugs & kisses at school -YAY!) The Hardworking Hubby & I returned home with an exhausted Tatertot, put him in his crib and somehow managed to crawl our tired butts into bed. We slept. Tatertot and I slept until 10 minutes before the kids returned from their 1st day of school. Yes…..I slept through the first day of school and did not accomplish a darn thing!
The kids returned home with their piles of parental paperwork as shown below

Yes. This is the parental paperwork our public school sent home to us today —- for ONE kid! So take a look and then double the amount that is there and that is what I spent taking care of after school today.
I also had to run over to our local KMart and grab a new school bag for the Drama Queen since hers went to crap after the 1st day! Yes….her Tek Sport Sling Bag that I had purchased and bedazzled to girlify it went to crap on the first day of school! The zipper broke and decided to separate at the end opposite the zipper pull as you can see in the picture.

Thankfully I checked the latest KMart ad online and discovered they had backpacks for 50% Off the original price. BONUS!!! So, the Drama Queen and I hopped in the car and flew the whole block and a half to KMart and found her a really cute backpack by Route 66 and she was more than pleased to model it for you!

After the whole school bag snafu, I convinced the Hardworking Hubby to run to the grocery store to get steak for dinner (this was rather easy as he jumps when he hears steak!)
He made this fabulous me for all of us to celebrate the first day of school

IT was UNBELIEVABLE!!! By far the best meal he has ever made!
Needless to say, I am now stuffed to the gills and am now heading out with the family to Barnes & Noble so Zman & Drama Queen can pick up their free books for participating in the 2009 Barnes & Noble Summer Reading program.
Watch for more pics for my Wordless Wednesday!
Here I am.
I survived the weekend.
I even found some time to relax.
I was however still sick through it all but managed to carry on.
On Friday, my son had his baseball game that would plan the remainder of our weekend. They did when that game which meant we had to be back at the ballpark @ 9am on Saturday to practice and play @ 10am. It was a very good game, the boys gave it their all and help them back for most of the game but they did end up losing 2-1. The loss ended our season. After the game, the boys had a pool party & pizza at the coaches house and then we were off to celebrate teh Drama Queen’s birthday @ Red Robin. I have to say, the food was really good and we had a good time. Afterward, I spoiled the whole family with ice cream from Cold Stone Creamery (YUMMY!!!).
After the evenings events and my still being under the weather, the Drama Queen & Zman stayed @ my parents for the night, Tatertot went to bed, my Hardworking Hubby went to a bachelor party and me…..I went to sleep….before 9pm. I was exhausted! I awoke at 6:37am, took a shower and crawled right back into bed and slept until 11:30! I could have slept longer but we had plans to head back to the ballpark for our friend D’s oldest son’s game — championship game— for 12:30. I am happy to report the his team did win the championship! It was a great game to watch.
So, baseball ended, we went swimming, grocery shopping, bought a few school supplies, I did my homework and that’s when the Hardworking Hubby & I did something we RARELY do……we took advantage of his night off of work, called his sister to come babysit and went out to our favorite little local bar and had some MUCH NEEDED cocktails!!!
We woke up this morning more tired then anything but no hangovers in sight! We had a lot of fun and are glad we were able to enjoy that time together. This week’s agenda…..the Drama Queen has Comedy City Camp M-Th with her final performance on Friday. She alsh has her last soccer game of the season on Tuesday and her awards ceremony Wednesday. After that, we are going to a cookout at D & M’s house on Saturday and just enjoying the remainder of the weekend. After this weekend, there is not another free one is sight until the weekend of August 28th. Then school starts and the following week kicks off flag football for Zman until mid-October and lord only knows what the Drama Queen will be involved in. During all of this I will have to find something for them to participate in throughout the remainder of fall and all of winter. Oh…and not to forget I will be attending classes the entire time!!!
For now, I am going to go enjoy some time with my HH before he returns to work tonight, eat dinner and work on a review and giveaway I have coming up!
Until then…………….
Can you tell I am a bit excited that the weekend has finally arrived? It’s been a busy week and the weekend looks to be real busy also. Zman’s baseball tourney started last night….we lost but play again @ 7:30 tonight. The remainder of our weekend depends on if his teams wins or loses tonight. The Hardworking Hubby is working overtime tomorrow (Sat) meaning if there is a baseball game, I will be going alone.
So, as of right now….the rest of the weekend is up in the air. If there is no baseball tomorrow, we will be going out to dinner @ Red Robin to celebrate the Drama Queen’s 9th birthday. She doesn’t officially turn 9 until Wednesday but I’m trying to find some free time to squeeze in dinner.
Summer school ended today, so the kids where in a GREAT mood! Zman will be at his dad’s house next week Monday-Friday and the Drama Queen starts Kid’s Camp @ Comedy City on Monday as well. Also, soccer comes to an end this coming Tuesday and the Drama Queen has her trophy presentation on her birthday.
We have one more busy week ahead and then I’m going to kick off my shoes, put my feet up and relax! I can’t believe we actually survived baseball & soccer season with 2 kids playing 2 different sports in 2 different locations and usually at the same or overlapping time. Hard to believe that summer is half over and before I know it, they will be back at school.
Hope everyone has a great weekend!
Another hectic week around here.
I have completed all of my assignments including my final project for my Business Communications class and have 1 assignment and my final project for my General Education class to finish before Sunday and then I can breathe for a few hours. My next 2 classes start on Monday. At least I will have some free time again….the work doesn’t get to crazy until the end.
Tonight we have soccer for the Drama Queen, followed by baseball for Zman. Somehow I am supposed to squeeze dinner in there to…..we will be gone from 5-9 (usually dinner is consumed during this time frame). I’m trying to convince the Hardworking Hubby that we should give the kids a snack before we leave and then just feed them at the ballpark. This is a battle I am hoping I win!
Other then that, I will be in and out for the remainder of the week. The HH is working 2nd shift on Wednesday which means I get the litter of kids to myself for swimming, dinner, baths/showers and bedtime. I figure he’ll be lucky if I’m still awake when he gets home shortly after 10! Thursday we are back to soccer and baseball (seasons are almost over) and then Friday the kids will be on a field trip with our park and recreation department to pick strawberries in the afternoon. Did I mention in there that I have to shuttle and pick up from summer school all week to plus drive them to a different park today to go to the hoedown? My kids have more of a social life then I do!
I miss being a kid!
(And I’m so tired right now that I’m not going to take the time to cut and paste the code for my signature!)
Love yah!
I’m Happy You’re My Dad
I feel safe when you are with me;
You show me fun things to do;
You make my life much better;
The best father I know is you.I’m happy you’re my Dad
And so I want to say
I love you, Dad, and wish you
A Happy Father’s Day!
By Joanna Fuchs
Ahh, Father’s Day. The one day of the year when we take the time to praise and thank Father’s everywhere. For the most part, I enjoy Father’s Day. I like to celebrate this day with my family (even though we did it a week early this year). Today we had lunch with my in-laws so the Hardworking Hubby could spend some time with his Father and the children also had time with Dad.
For those who are not aware, the Hardworking Hubby is not the biological father of my 2 oldest children. Zman & the Drama Queen have different Father’s. Zman is lucky to see his dad every now and then. Some times he is lucky to see him every other weekend. As for the Drama Queen, she doesn’t see her father at all. I wouldn’t even call him her father. We can refer to him as “the sperm donor” (and that’s me being nice).
The reason I chose to display this poem in this post is simply because of one line, “The best father I know is you.” The Hardworking Hubby has been more than a stepfather to Zman & the Drama Queen. He has provided them both with many things they didn’t have before. He is their dad. He is the one who works hard to cloth them, feed them and keep a roof over our heads. He is the only dad the Drama Queen has ever known. He doesn’t treat them any differently then he treats Tatertot, who is his biological child. To him, they are his children and to them, he is there dad!
My husband is an EXCEPTIONAL Father and I thank him for it everyday!
Here’s wishing all the Father’s out there a Happy Father’s Day!
